Feeling a cold coming on?

sick

Okay, I know you all think I’m this crazy witch because of my obsession with essential oils and you are absolutely right, I am.

I don’t know maybe it’s because my immune system was absolute dirt before I started using them. Dirt. I would get a sinus infection twice a year and have to go on antibiotics. The z-pack stopped working for me. It got ridiculous. Thieves has changed my life and I’d be shell fish not to share this with you. My doctor has even asked me where the hell I’ve been.

I’ll keep this short and sweet because if you’re reading this you probably feel a cold coming on and your patience is running thin.

Feel a cold coming on? DROP EVERYTHING AND MAKE THIS IMMU BOMB. NOW!

  • 4 thieves, 3 oregano, 2 frank, 2 lemon + carrier oil of your choice.
  • These go into an empty capsule … Empty Pill Capsules
  • Freeze them and take 2 every 12 hours.

My Routine

First off, before you get to this point, use thieves every single day. Make a roller or grab the thieves pre-made one. Every single day I roll on the back of my neck and down my spine. It smells like cinnamon. Also, ditch your cleaning products because the toxins they contain are garbage for your immune system and replace with thieves cleaning supplies. They’re inexpensive, 100 percent safe for you and your family and they last forever.

Decongestant Oils/Routines

  • Raven, thieves, peppermint and eucalyptus on your chest.  Diffuse them. Hold them. Love them.
  • Melrose drops in shower and on palms (inhale).
  • Purification. Rub this on your congested areas such as you sinuses and your neck. Helps to drain out the ick!
  • Steaming hot water on a hand towel, drop all decongestant oils on there and place on your face. Let the steam open up your sinuses.
  • Immu bomb capsules A$AP rocky.
  • One drop of thieves oil under the tongue morning and night.
  • Thieves tea! Thieves vitality, lav vitality then I add lemon oil, raw honey and 2 droppers of Mineral Essence.
  • Diffuse thieves all throughout the house so nobody else gets sick. If you can open the windows for a few mins please do.
  • Make your immunity roller with thieves, lemon and frank. All of these oils are amazing support for your immune system.
  • Load up on lavender. You need some rest and relaxation to kick whatever is creeping.
  • Drink your ningxia!!! Cannot stress that enough. It’s unreal for your body.

Supplements

  • Super C: Take one every day but double up on it when you feel it coming on or even if you’re in the thick of it.
  • Inner Defense: 2 in the morning and 2 at night.
  • ImmuPro: Take one tablet at night! Contains melatonin and will knock you out.

Other oils that can help with cold prevention is lemongrass, tea tree, oregano, ginger, rosemary and thyme. Make a roller out of these bad boys to use every single day.

The Basic Kit

I always, ALWAYS believe one of our Premium Starter Kits (oils & diffuser, Thieves, NingXia or Savvy) is THE BEST way to jump in with Young Living. It comes with everything you need to get started on your new lifestyle.

However, if you want to start with just CBD, or have a specific oil & supplement regimen you wish to start with, or you simply desire to handpick from various product families, the Basic Kit can be an EXCELLENT option!! For example, I have had a few people grab the basic kit so they can also purchase our holiday items or Black Friday sales.

The Basic Kit is like a Costco membership (except you actually get a membership gift).

Here are the gifts …

Stress Away™, 5 ml
AromaGlide® Roller Fitment
Thieves® Hand Sanitizer, 1 oz. sample
Thieves® Mints
2 NingXia Red®, 2 oz. samples

The Young Living Starter Kit for Beginners

kit

Oh the things you can do with your starter kit.

First and foremost, toss your amazon oils. They are not 100% natural, they are not seed to seal, they do contain additives, which is why they are so cheap. I would much rather pay for a product I know is 100% natural. I use these oils and products on myself, my home and my family so the all natural aspect is very important to me. I know I sound crazy but you will notice the difference as soon as you start using YL. Watch your mind, body, soul, skin, hair, attitude, etc. improve.

There is usually confusion in regards to buying the kit as opposed to just one or two oils from me. Here’s why I strongly recommend the kit…

Sure, you can use lavender and stress away every night because you have trouble sleeping. However, each and every single one of the 12 oils and products in the PSK have a purpose and I’m here to let the world know! With the purchase of this kit, you open the gates to a healthier way of life. You can now purchase anything from YL at WHOLESALE.  You are now a part of a community of oilers who want to help you learn more about this lifestyle and all the ways in which you can utilize your kit and more. One of the largest factor is the cost. Many of you want just the valor and stress away for your anxiety or the frankincense for your skin. If you were to order these oils alone they would total close to or over $100 while the kit gives you them and more (like even a friggin diffuser) for $165. It’s a no-brainer. So when I push the kit, I am truly looking out for your health and most importantly your pocket. Swear.

kitbreakdown

Okay so now check out all of the ways in which you can use your kit. This isn’t even all of it guys, I would need to publish a novel if I truly listed out all of the ways.

Starter Kit Challenge

+ Add frankincense to your skin creams to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
+ Rub peppermint on your temples when you feel a migraine coming on OR add it to your beverage to curb your carb craving!
+ Drop thieves under your tongue when you feel a cold brewing.
+ Acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion? Drop digize under your tongue.
+ Add peppermint to your tea to curb your late afternoon sweet tooth.

+ Apply valor behind your ears when panic and fear approaches.

+ Congested? Rub raven on your neck and chest.

+ Add raven to your shower to open you up!

Below are blends that you can either diffuse or create rollers with. Consider this a beginners guide. There are many more concoctions, I just want to get you started.

Using the PSK on Little People

So I have a 3 week old and I am over the moon. I’ve been oiling for quite some time now so I used oils throughout my pregnancy and I honestly don’t know how people do life without them. I had an easy pregnancy and an even easier delivery.

Here I am, a new mom, oiling my little mans up. So far it has been amazing. Each oil in the kit provides support for me and baby JJ. Let me tell ya how. Start by checking the dilution chart below. If I’m being honest, I barely dilute, I just make sure I use only 1 drop on the little homie.

dilution.jpg

Diffuser: Add this to the babes room and get yourself one too! I have a diffuser in every room but I’m extra.

Peace + Calming: This is JJ’s favoriteeeee calming oil. He responds to this one the most. I’ll diffuse this at night in his room and after a nightime bath I apply to his forehead. During diaper changes I’ll apply some to the bottom of his feet.

Valor: Being a new mom is scary. Valor relieves my anxiety. I diffuse this at night and apply to neck and wrists during the day. I cannot live iwthout this oil. Sometime’s I will add this to JJ’s nighttime diffuser.

Frank: This is applied to both mine and JJ’s forehead for focus and centering. Sometimes we just need a reset – most especially when baby boy is crying and it takes me forever to figure out why. Oiy.

Panaway: After birth my back was off. I hear this is common. Panaway for all of the aches and pains.

Stress Away: I mean, need a say more? Mom, bring this in the shower with you – when you can actually take one – and drop away. Rub all over your neck. This scent is unreal so I will diffuse during the day to keep baby J (and myself) from freaking out.

Lavender: Seriously what is lavender not good for? For JJ, I’ll let him sniff this when he is all out of pocket. For me, the uses are endless but that is for another post.

Raven: Sniffles and coughs? Raven baby. Dilute and apply to chest and bridge of nose for the little one should they be snotty and agitated. This oil opens you right up. I always say it’s similar to vicks vapor rub in both smell and use.

Peppermint: I’ve had post partum hormonal headaches. I am not sure if it is my hormones or lack of sleep that I got going on here but pep on the temples is immediate relief. I don’t use this on baby love.

Citrus Fresh: For JJ’s hiccups! This dude sucks down his bottle in such an urgent manner he legit gets hiccups after every feeding that keep him from falling back asleep. Letting him sniff this helps the hiccups subside.

Thieves: Immunity! During the day I will open a window and diffuse this in JJ’s room – if the weather is nice enough for the window to be open – to get the germs out. Obviously nobody wants to try and be a mom when you have a friggin head cold so I use this on myself daily. Rub on your neck and wrists every single morning to stay above the wellness line. Diffuse with other oils for an amazinggggggg fall scent.

Lemon: I add this to my water during the day to curb my cravings. Trying to get my body back to where it was before pregnancy.

Digize: When JJ is constipated I will rub this on his back. Also, after birth mom usually has a terrible time going to the bathroom. I add this to my tea and rub on my stomach to get me moving along.

Ningxia Packets: I take one of these every single day. SO MANY BENEFITS, one including a natural boost of energy. What mom doesn’t need that, am I right?

Thieves Hand Sanitizer and Spray: This is in JJ’s diaper bag so where ever we go I can make sure unwanted germs stay the F away. I favor the spray because it is so quick and easy to use on yourself and all surfaces such as shopping carts and coffee shop tables.

Thieves Cleaning packet: I use this to clean my whole house. JJ could literally lick the table and I won’t have to worry about toxins and chemicals in his mouth that he would’ve gotten from the wood cleaner, windex or bleach.

My Oily Labor Plan

clothes

Going on baby number two so this whole article has been updated! My God do you learn a lot after becoming a mom. SHEESH.

I had such an amazing experience (though definitely wild and at times painful) during labor with jj.
Thank you Jesus for YL. Having those tools- It totally put me in such a mindset, I felt powerful af. YL has SO many tools to make your labor unforgettable, manageable and amazing.

Packing//

I overpacked HUGE time with JJ. This time I am taking on the minimalist approach so I can fit all of the hospital supplies I will be taking home with me in there.

You:
◖ Oils/diffuser
◖ Labor playlist
◖ Chapstick and lavender face spray
◖ Crappy flops for shower
◖ Blanket
◖ Your own towel
◖ Snacks – mints to keep your mouth moist during labor
◖ Shampoo, condition, lotion, etc.
◖ Hair ties and headbands
◖ Cotton t-shirt dress/nightgown
◖ Sports bra for your sore boobies
◖ ipad.

◖ going home outfit

◖ Comfy socks
◖ Extra long phone charger

◖ Wine for a victory cheers (and wine opener)
◖ Water bottle with lid

Baby going home outfit.

Also – TAKE EVERYTHING FROM THE HOSPITAL. They want you to. If you’re formula feeding take all of those bottles too.

Lav & Peace+Calming//

Apply a few drops on your belly to help calm you and baby down. You can diffuse Peace + Calming or apply directly to your chest. I have my oil and roller form of P+C I’ll be bringing with me.

Use this combo if you are dealing with restless leg or if you simply can’t get comfy enough to snooze.

This routine not only calms you on the way to the hospital, it can even slow down early labor.

Alsooooooooo, these are to be used on baby when the little nugget is fussy as all hell.

lav and pc

Encouraging Labor//

Jasmine

This million dollar bottle is a freaking miracle. Once labor begins, apply this as a perfume or simply drop into hands and inhale. The smell will keep you calm and happy. It smells like a dream.

[ I have been wearing it as a perfume all week in hopes of labor about a week early ]

Jasmine has antidepressant and antibacterial properties. It is also known to be a sexual stimulant.

Already a YL member? You can use your reward points to grab this oil. It’s a bit pricey so treat yourself. SO worth it.

Diffusing During Labor//

Okay so check with your hospital to see if you are allowed to diffuse in your room. I am delivering at Lankenau and have yet to check but you bet your ass I am bringing my Orb diffuser and hoping for the best. This little guy is small but powerful. If you don’t have it yet, add it to your ER because you are truly missing out. I currently use it in my car.

Anywho, here is your diffuser recipe to bump during labor …

(4 drops of each)
🌱 Lavender
🌱 Frankincense
🌱 Ylang Ylang
🌱 Roman Chamomile

diffuser orb.jpg

Labor Roller//

Mix the following oils with carrier oil in a roller for when labor starts. Massage into the your inner ankles, on little toes, little fingers, lower back, and abdomen. These oils will help regulate and keep you focused during the most amazing job you’ll ever have.

🌱 Helichrysum- 4 drops
🌱 Fennel – 4 drops
🌱 Peppermint – 2 drops
🌱 Ylang Ylang – 6 drops
🌱 Clary Sage – 3 drops

labor roller zoomed

Frankincense//

In my research I have found that this guy is a key player during labor. I mean I am obsessed with Frank anyway. This is my yoga oil. Centers and calms. I often drop frank into the palms of my hands and inhale deeply, then I rub it all over my face for wrinkle prevention.

So when you are going into labor, if you remember, one drop of frank around your vaginal opening. Your babe is going to come out zen AF.

I also recommend placing a drop on your newborns forehead to welcome he/she into the world.

franky

Valor//

Apply four to six drops on wrists, chests, and back (or bottom of feet). You’ll want to love on valor during transitional labor and pushing. This is no shocker to me as we all use valor to calm our nerves, anxiety and halt panic attacks.

**If you are feeling super anxious, directly inhale valor, breathing long and heavy, in and out. I don’t recommend diffusing it because it knocks my ass out at night for bed and I don’t want to feel sleepy when I’m supposed to be pushing.

Strength + Focus//

If you are pregnant – grab these now!

🌱 Brain Power: Apply two drops on neck and throat

🌱 En-R-Gee: Hate the smell of this oil so I am applying to the bottom of my feet. If you don’t mind it, apply to wrists and back of neck

🌱 Ylang Ylang: Apply to hands and feet to advance labor. Keeps your blood pressure from spiking through the roof. I friggin love this oil.

mental strength

Cool Down, Mom//

So from what I hear the pushing is going to make me cry, sweat, puke, and more and I cannot wait. LOL

I have these dry face masks from amazon I am going to use as neck and face cloths to cool me down during labor. Bring a bowl with you so your partner (give them something to do) can add cold water to it along with these masks.

This is what you want to add to your dry face masks.

(10 drops of each)
🌱 Jasmine – there it is again! Love you, Jas.
🌱 Roman Cham
🌱 Geranium
🌱 Lavender – I am using 20 drops of lav. Obsessed.

face cloth

The Afterbirth Blend//

Make yourself an afterbirth roller with the following oils and carrier oil to rub on your abdomen after birth. This will help expel placenta and tone the uterus. Who doesn’t want that?

Each of these oils are super uplifting too. You’ll feel amazing.

(10 drops each)
🌱 Geranium
🌱 Lavender
🌱 Jasmine

The Bon Voyage Kit//

This miracle bag of goods takes care of about 90% of my needs at the hospital. Check out everything it includes.

Amazing for travel too! I’ll use this no matter where I travel now. Add it right to your ER!

pack your friggin ningxia//
I adore this supplement. If you aren’t drinking it you’re insane, please read on.
Can you eat 100 oranges, 814 blueberries, 22 medium carrots, 10.85 lbs spinach, 59 broccoli florets, 73 med. strawberries, and 93 apples? No? Then just drink 1 packet of Ningxia. I’m not kidding you, it’s equivalent to all of that. ⁣
Ningxia Red has helped my family through digestive stuff, pregnancy, my spacey-ness, when we’ve been under the weather, when I crave sweets… so many things.
It has helped in keeping me regular and my levels balanced throughout pregnancies.
Anyway, have some packets ready for you to drink after labor to recover and give your body allll the things.

Clary Sage//
You are going to want to bring this bottle – SUCH a key player in all the things for labor.
Basically if you want to speed up your labor
To increase and strengthen contractions//
Clary Sage applied around the inside of the ankles and internally as needed, eg.
1 drop every half an hour
Dilation, if delayed//

Thieves. Bring the oil, the spray, the antibacterial gel, the roller for you.

Don’t feel like a bitch when your aunt comes in and tries to kiss the brand new baby. Tell her to give it a little due to flu season. I’m sure she will understand!

🌱 Claraderm: I’ve been spraying on my lady parts since week 33 to prevent tearing during labor. This is also used after labor to help your lady parts recover.

🌱 Linen Spray: I want to make myself as comfortable as possible and there’s nothing that scream my bed more than lavender sheets and pillows.

🌱 Tender Tush: This is what I have been using on my stomach and bum to prevent stretch marks where my body is stretching the most. I’ve grown to love the way this deeply hydrates my skin and I now use it all over.

Pregnancy + Oils

235998751_10224594426475527_4790566781039850147_n

YL is HUGE in prenatal care. I have been so, so thankful for my YL products to help support my body while it’s working hard to create a child. There’s a lot out there when it comes to what is and isn’t recommended during pregnancy. You are the keeper of your body so you should do what makes you feel comfortable and create your own regimen. This is mine. I make my decisions based on science backed articles discussing Young Living specifically and only. We all know that essential oils vary greatly between companies, so please, please please do not use oils you got from amazon, the grocery store or the mall for the below. It really wouldn’t be applicable to the quality of oils we get from Young Living and not even remotely as safe.

Progessence Plus: Okay, I love this. Grabbed this to use for hormone support especially for us trying to get pregnant. This is to be use as you are trying to conceive and throughout your first trimester as the combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppress further ovulation during pregnancy, (preventing miscarriage). Progesterone is a female hormone important for the regulation of ovulation and menstruation. If a pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The  Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. Use through first trimester may increase your nausea, headaches and moodiness but it is well worth it to have that support.

CBD: I love CBD, it has changed my anxious life. Many are unsure about taking it during pregnancy and while BF – do your own research and do what you feel comfy with. I will remain ingesting and applying CBD when I get pregnant again. (I didn’t know about CBD with JJ)

Keep your hair, ladies! Take sulfurzyme while pregnant to prevent PP hair loss! Take it every single day to keep your locks long and full. Also use your mermaid spray daily! I never lost hair PP with jj, and I don’t plan on it with this one. Sulfurzyme has changed my hair.

Lemon, Digize + Gentle Baby (Heartburn): rub along your neck.

Restless Leg: this is caused by a lack of magnesium believe it or not – which kidscents unwind has a ton of!!!!! and its bomb for sleep, i take a half packet every night. I also rub cbd on my legs and its instant relief.

Spearmint and Aromaease aromarings (nausea/more at bottom of article): For those blessed with first trimester nausea, rub a few drops over your liver, sniff it, diffuse it. Ningxia and Super B were my game changers when it came to nausea.

Claraderm Spray: To soothe your vajeen area, sorry if TMI but 15 lbs of baby pressing on your parts does not feel good! This stuff also helps prepare your lady parts for birth, strengthening your downstairs to prevent tearing. Start spraying at 33 weeks a few times a day.

High Blood Pressure:

◖ aroma life – apply a few drops over your heart
◖ ylang ylang – same thing, alllll day
◖ ningxia

Water Retention: Cypress oil. Cypresssssss oilllllllll. It is unreal for water retention. Massage those swollen ankles every single night!

◖ often as pregnancy progresses, circulation isnt the best. a gentle leg massage at night with cypress should do the trick. i would even add lavender drops to a bucket of warm water and epson salt, soak those puppies each night! ◖ aroma life, cypress, helichrysum and tangerine oil // all work for the massage and foot soak ◖ omegagize // take one to four capsules daily ◖ cardiogize

Back Pain:

◖ deep relief roller
◖ valor (liquid xanax) roller or apply neat
◖ cool azul cream
◖ agilease supplements
◖ CBD muscle RUBBBBBBBBBBB

Belly Butter: I made this for myself and my best gal through her pregnancy. Shae butter, cocoa butter, jojoba, frank, lav, and gentle baby to prevent cellulite and to soothe your baby all at the same time. All of these oils are great for your babe so rub away every single night.

NINGXIA. Cannot say enough about drinking Ningxia every damn day. Packed with nutrients and antioxidants to give you natural energy. Personally, I am not completely done drinking coffee, but I had to cut down my intake. Ningxia really helped me make it through while I was nauseous. SO good for you and the baby. Your levels will shock your docs.

Peppermint (headaches + nausea): This one is on the “use cautiously” during pregnancy list but I am so thankful for it! When an oil is on this list, it’s important to look at WHY it is there. Peppermint, when rubbed on the belly *can* flip the baby. Okay, so I’m not rubbing a bottle of peppermint on my belly every night, because, well why would I do that? When my hormone headache occurs, I rub pep on my temples and neck and instant relief!

Constipation: Pregnancy brings on many issues, one of them being not being able to poop regularly.

◖ balance complete: add to daily routine, promise it’ll work
◖ ICP – add to your ningxia! sweet powder.
◖ life 9 supplement every night
◖ comfortone capsules before breakfast and bedtime may provide some relief as well.
◖ essentialzyme (you should take this everyday regardless, its legit the best)

Seedlings Line: Start stocking up now! Honestly knowing all of the chemicals in baby products (lotions, etc.) I won’t use anything but YL products on my kids. Super affordable, all last forever and can be diluted to last even beyond that.

Sheerlume: This is for the dark spots, also known as Melasma, that you tend to get on your face during pregnancy. This stuff is WILD. Works almost instantly.

Breech Baby: Peppermint!!! Insane right?? SO many stories on how babies have been flipped thanks to peppermint oil. Apply drops of peppermint to the top of the abdomen and several drops of myrhh to the bottom of the abdomen and massage. The coolness of the peppermint on the babies head will cause the baby to move away and flip eventually with the help of massaging.

Omegagize: Here are just a FEW of the benefits of taking a fish oil (common pregnancy symptoms)

◖ lower blood pressure
◖ lowers inflammation
◖ reduce triglycerides
◖ slows the development of plaque in the arteries
◖ reduces the chance of abnormal heart rythym
◖ reduces the likelihood of heart attack and stroke
◖ lessens the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease.

Clary Sage: Have this on deck for around your due date. This helps regulate contractions naturally. If you are late, this is a natural way to get the baby moving along. Diffuse during labor!

Body Butter: I made this for myself and my best gal through her pregnancy. Shae butter, cocoa butter, jojoba, frank, lav, and gentle baby to prevent cellulite and to soothe your baby all at the same time. All of these oils are great for your babe so rub away every single night.

Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids are usually caused from straining during bowel movements, obesity, or pregnancy. Typically they do go away, what I have found to work if Tea Tree and Rose Ointment. Dab some tea tree on a cotton round and wipe all over, followed by rose ointment. To keep things moving and try to avoid them you can use Balance Complete which is high in fiber.

Mineral Essence: drops in your tea at night. Crucial for our bodies in this time. Has a yucky taste but I played with it and found its best with hot tea at night.

◖ restless leg is a magensium deficiency and this is bomb for that
◖ charlie horses
◖ snooze

The coolness of the peppermint on the babies head will cause the baby to move away and flip eventually with the help of massaging.

Prenatal Supplements

Master Formula: Instead of taking all of the below, master formula will act as your prenatal paired with multigreens.

Super B: You are going to be extremely fatigued so these are amazing support for drowsiness and nausea. Unfortunately, B vitamins are not stored in the body and they must be replenished daily. For pregnancy, you should insist on folate vs folic acid in your prenatal wellness regimen for the absolute best your babe can get and this supplement has just that.

Super Cal: Contains all of the calcium and minerals your baby needs to develop their teensy bones and teeth. How friggin cute. This supplement is amazing for the integrity and structure of your bones and teeth as well!

Super C:  All the vitamin C! Our immune systems are suppressed during pregnancy and I love having this supplement to keep me above the wellness line, free from the nasty headcold. You aren’t able to take antibiotics when you are sick so Super C it up!

Inner Defense: I pop this capsule open and apply it tothe bottom of my feet one or twice a week to stay ahead of illness.

Multigreens: You and your babe need your daily source of greens in this bioactive sea vegetable energy source for vitality. The combination of bee pollen and essential oil blend helps to increase assimilation of the nutrients with an excellent choline source for energy production. Some people dump 2-3 of these capsules in their morning smoothie.

Life 9: Pregnancy = irregular BM’s.Take this guy at night!Life 9 is a proprietary, high-potency probiotic that combines 17 billion live cultures from nine beneficial bacteria strains. You see, there are microbes in the lower intestinal tract that help us digest food, fight harmful bacteria, and regulate the immune system. But sometimes an imbalance of microbes occurs, leading to running to the bathroom… if you get my drift … and other health problems.

Olive Essentials: Heart health and overall well being. Each capsule of Olive Essentials has as much hydroxytyrosol as a liter of extra virgin olive oil, delivering a concentrated amount of this invaluable compound.

Illumineyes: So what they don’t tell you is that pregnancy leaves you blind. This capsule supports your eyes and skin with the powerful ingredients featuring lutein and zeaxanthin. Yhis proprietary formula helps reduce eye strain, protects eyes from damaging blue light, and maintains vibrant skin. IlluminEyes can also help support your eye health in the long-term—vitamins A and C both have properties that may help reduce eye health deterioration commonly related to age.

ImmuPro: Idk about you but I am doing whatever I can to avoid any illness going around. Seriously, carrying a child is enough effort in itself. These chewy tablets not only keep you above the wellness line, they’re BOMB for sleep. Take these at night because they deliver melatonin which encourages restful sleep by promoting the body’s natural sleep rhythm.

Nausea (deserves its own section)

236950858_10224607021750401_4161134264382730149_n

Honestly God bless, it’s truly the worst shit ever. With JJ it was bad. It was all day flu like symptoms and I wouldn’t actually vomit, just nauseous and smell sensitive all damn day. Cringe at the thought. Anyway, moms going through it, I see you and I am praying for you, especially if you have another one to look after at the same time, it’s like ummm hellish. Here is what I did to get through. Everyyyyone is different so take this with a grain.

◖ AROMARINGS. Praise the heavens above. I think I had one in my nose for 9 weeks. Literally GAME CHANGE. In your first trimester your sense of smell is INTENSE. They think that may be why we get so nauseous. Who knows. Everything I smelled from my fridge to Jerry cooking chicken made me want to literally DIE. The aroma rings were a lifesaveerrrrrrrrrr, when I was done with one I would put it in a plastic bag with peppermint oil so I could reuse.

◖ Unisom at night. Sleeping pill, people say it helps with nausea. It could’ve eased it but idk honestly. This shit will knock you out but if you don’t think it’s working use Rutavala on your feet for sleep. I could not diffuse anything first trimester, that is literally how ill I was.

◖ Super Vitamin B. Yo swear this is a game changer. I doubled my dose on this.

◖ Ningxia + Club. Water was even an issue to get down so this I drank all day. This way I knew I was getting the nutrients that I was lacking by not eating. I froze my ningxia packets as well. Idk why it went down so much better that way.

◖ Supplements. Wasn’t pretty getting these down BUT I took Master Formula which covers just about everything you need, a prenatal, and Life 9 because I was irregular thanks to hormones. Lmao wild.

◖ Carbs + soup. All I could do. Wooooooo lord it was bad.

◖ Lemons. Lemons in my water, diffused lemon and peppermint all day.

◖ Digize on both belly and back morning and night. The smell is hard to take at this point but it did provide some relief. Peppermint on your tummy should only be avoided in the last tri so you good.

◖ Spearmint oil on your thumb, apply to roof of mouth for some relief. ✨Peppermint behind my neck all day. Eucalyptus and lavender in the shower – idk why this did it for me.

◖ Aromaease is one people swear by but personally I couldn’t stomach the smell. Try it though, everyone is different.

◖ Red raspberry leaf tea is said to help but it didn’t help with me. *gag*

◖ Keep saltines on you at all times. Eat them in the am before you get up.

◖ Get the Gentle Babies book right the F now. It is INCREDIBLE for everything from pregnancy to toddler.

Oily DIY’s

hair serum

Alright, I rant about this so much I think it’s time to post. As I had said before, I got into oils to help me out with my anxiety (I was born high strung, not sure if it’s a gift or a curse). After weeks of researching I was like oh shit, I can use these to prevent wrinkles too? Hair growth? Eyelash growth? Uhm, yes. I live for a good home made face mask.

Before I share my current beauty hacks, please note that there are so many oils out there that promote the well being of your skin, hair, nails, etc. The following featured only the ones I have fallen in love wit thus far. I still have so many on my list of beauty oils. Check em out. Don’t have a kit? Sign me up baby!

Thieves Wipes

Grab some empty wipes off of amazon, add one or two cap full pours + lemon eo + tea tree eo

Dry Wipes

Bug Spray

20 citronella + 15 eucalptus + 15 lemongrass + 15 peppermint + witch hazel. Many recipes say to add water but I say no because water attracts flies. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stain Remover

Thieves dish soap, thieves cleaning solution, lemon eo, thieves eo, water. I put mine in a roller and I have a large spray of it in my laundry room. Gold baby. Solid gold.

Hair Growth/Thickening Spray or serum (up to you!)

Everyday Spray// 20 drops of lavender + 20 drops of cedarwood + 20 rosemary + 15 clary sage + 15 peppermint + 15 thyme + witch hazel + distilled water in a spray bottle. Spray in dry or wet hair!

Serum// + 3/4 castor oil + 1/4 jojoba oil.  I can’t get over the benefits of this spray. What I do is apply as a hair mask before I get into the shower. Sometimes I will leave it on overnight. If you’re hair tends to get greasy fast maybe just a few hours while you clean your house!

Face Mask

Carrier oil + your fav face oils, mine are frank, lav, geranium, copiaba and ylang ylang + 16 oz of water. Mix to your own consistency! I place the masks in a bowl and add all ingredients, let sit for hours. Be your own judge here!

Kitchen/Bath Scrub

2 cups baking soda + 20 drops of lemon EO + 2 caps thieves cleaner + splash vinegar + little bitta wataaaa (h2o)

Pregnant Belly Butter//Stretch Marks

10 frank + 10 lav + 10 gentle baby, cocoa butter, shae butter and vitamin E oil. As your beautiful baby bump grows, so does your skin. Use this butter to prevent stretch marks and keep your baby feeling nice and relaxed in the womb. What a tiny miracle. 🙂

Facewash

20 ylang ylang + 20 frank + 20 lav + 20 lemon (add tea tree if you tend to break out) + 2/3 cup of castille soap + 1/3 cup of witch hazel + 2 tea spoons of vitamin E oil. Add all of this to a foaming soap dispenser. Peep My Finds for the goods. ALSO, if you do not have all of these oils feel free to make it your own. Instead of Ylang Ylang I use geranium which is amazing for the skin, lemon is as well. Do you child.

Makeup Primer

It took me a bit but I finally got a concoction down. 10 drops of each. Lav, Cedarwood, Geranium, Frank, Lemon. Rosewater and organic Rosewater. Peep My Finds for the rose sprays.

Face Moisturizing Everyday Cream

15 frank, 10 lav, 5 cedarwood. In a baby mason jar add raw shea butter and organic coconut oil, heat them until they’re soft, almost liquid. Add the oils, jojoba and sweet almond oil. Place in your fridge overnight and voillaaaaaa.

Eyelash Serum

Okay so you can either add lavender to your mascara or create the serum to use at night before bed. Mix lavender, cedarwood and rosemary with castor oil and sweet almond. I would use 6 drops of each and more sweet almond than castor. The castor oil tends to be thick.

Face Moisturizing Serum

This weather has been tough on my face so I made this overnight serum that packs a little more punch for the winter wind. 15 frank, 10 lav, 10 geranium, 7 ylang ylang. Fill the rest with jojoba and sweet avocado carrier oil. I had bad patch of eczema (self diagnosed) on my neck for like a month so I’m extra thankful for this serum. This bad boy should get your skin back to the moisture level of a Caribbean island overnight.

Hair, Body + Face Mask

Grab a jar of organic coconut oil, add frankincense, lavender, cedarwood and grapefruit. This will act as your hair, body and face mask. I use this every single night on my face and body and on as a hair mask when I’m relaxing, cleaning the house, etc. I made an under eye roller out of these oils as well, for morning and night use. Promise, you’ll never buy a CVS face mask again.

Dandruff, Pimples, Bumps, Athletes Foot, etc.

Tea tree works miracles. This anti-fungal oil clears unwanted dandruff and buildup, surprise pimples and so much more.

Friggin Lavender/Sleep Roller

Not only good for sleep! Add lav to your mascara, shampoo, condition and face products. Major improvement in all aspects. Lavender is used for skin rashes as well. Idk how people live without it, gotta be honest. For the sleep roller, add 10 drops of lav, 10 drops of stress away (I also add oregano oil which is great for calming as well). Add a carrier and roll this down your spine at night, under the feet as well.

Rosewater Spray

Organic rosewater spray (My Finds), frankincense, rose, lavender, cedarwood and geranium. This I use all day, every day. This little homemade gem keeps your skin moist and refreshed at all times. Doesn’t F with your makeup either, if anything it sets it throughout the day. You know when you’re flying and your skin gets all dried out from the high altitude? Never again, guys. Never again.

Under Eye Roller

Lavender, cedarwood, frank, geranium, ylang ylang and copiaba. Mix with your favorite carrier oil. I used jojoba for my skin. Literally obsessed with this roller. UPDATE: I’ve added new oils that mix well with my skin such as blue cypress, royal hawaiian sandalwood, rose and jasmine.

Teeth Whitener

Orange eo + clove eo + baking soda and a smidge of water for consistency. Leave on your pearly whites for about 20 mins every other day.

I’ll keep this doc updated for my oils peeps out there. Got you guys.

You are the gatekeeper of your home ◗

Guys, did you know that you are exposed to over a hundred harmful chemicals every morning even before leaving your home? From your perfume and makeup to the spray you wipe your vanity down with. Did you know that these chemicals lead to allergies, lung disease and even cancer? Swear. Did you also know that there are no federal regulations of chemicals in household products? What the actual fuck?

toxin

Unfortunately, these toxins that we are exposed to everyday are taking a toll on our bodies. For example, toxic cleaning products aren’t just tough on your respiratory function—they can absolutely destroy you and your home’s microorganisms. Environmental toxins are often endocrine disruptors; that is, they can block hormones or actually impair the production of hormones by the endocrine glands. Laments terms, they are effing with our moods, sleep, and production causing allergies, cancer and tumors. Guys, kids products. There’s Formaldehyde found in some baby shampoos, and body washes. Formaldehyde. I shit you not. The toxin they preserve dead people in that is linked to cancer and other allergies. That is horrifying.

Let’s look at some of the scary chemicals that are in SO many of the products that are used daily and even products that are “recommended for kids” ……

First and foremost, one of the most dangerous ones of all. Fragrance!

Fragrance: Whenever you see this word on a label, SAY NO. This is a MAJOR loophole in US labeling regulation that lets manufacturers include just about any ingredient they want in a product under the umbrella term of “fragrance.” It keeps you from ever really knowing what’s in your products. The EU took the sensible route of closing up this loophole altogether. FRAGRANCE = Chemical Nightmare. (Cancer, Infertility, Respiratory Issues, Allergies, Asthma, Skin disorders, just a few issues that “fragrance” causes. It’s no wonder these are all on the rise in todays world. It’s not a coincidence friends, it’s facts.)

Formaldehyde: “Formaldehyde,” you may say. “You’ll find formaldehyde most commonly in hair straightening treatments, as well as some nail polish and eyelash glue. It’s legal to include in US made cosmetics, however it is banned in Europe. It’s a known carcinogen and can cause breathing issues.

Petroleum: Petroleum is derived from the same stuff that fuels your car. It goes by a few different names, including mineral oil, petrolatum, and paraffin oil. Whatever gets into your body just kind of… sits there. What does that mean over the long term? Who knows! Which is likely why it’s not used in the EU. Keep your eye out for petroleum in moisturizing products for lips and skin.

Parabens: known by many different names (including methylparaben, isopropylparaben, pentylparaben, isobutylparaben, phenylparaben, and benzylparaben) are a preservative, they have a tendency to mimic estrogen in the body, wreaking havoc on your hormonal system. Their impact may even be enough to reduce fertility!!!! Parabens are extremely common in conventional skin and hair products, so keep a sharp eye out for them whenever you shop.

Triclosan: Steer clear of this ingredient in soaps and toothpastes. There are other ongoing studies that involve the safety of triclosan. One is a study investigating the potential of developing skin cancer after a long-term exposure to triclosan in animals.

Hydroquinone: This ingredient is found in products designed to brighten or lighten the skin. It’s also bad, bad news. Europe and Japan have outlawed it due to its cytotoxic nature. Hydroquinone kills cells and chromosomes if it is used too much, which sets the stage for some forms of cancer. While high doses of hydroquinone are banned in the US, prescription level amounts of 4% are readily available. There’s no evidence that this dosage doesn’t lead to cancer, so it makes the most sense to avoid hydroquinone completely.

P-Phenylenediamine: Otherwise known as PPD, this ingredient is derived from coal tar. It leads to (very severe) allergic reactions and can be found in a huge number of conventional hair dyes. The EU has banned it altogether, and I’d encourage you to ban it from your bathroom as well.

Quaternium-15: Manufacturers use this to help their makeup last as long as possible. Which is all well and good, until you realize that it can release formaldehyde. Yup, the same stuff that causes cancer and breathing issues. You’re most likely to find this banned ingredient in facial cosmetics, especially powders.

Talc: Talc shows up in cosmetics and hair care products that help get rid of oil (dry shampoo, powdered makeup, deodorants and even baby powder). It contains asbestos and increasing your risk of lung growths and mesothelioma. While there is strict quality control on talc in the United States, it’s much safer to take the route the EU chose and avoid it altogether.

And those are just a handful. There are THOUSANDS more. Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. Ignorance isn’t bliss when it comes to your health. Sugar coating things isn’t helping either. This stuff is serious. It’s happening and it’s causing an epidemic of issues.

We are all just trying to get by in this life, right?

So it’s easy for us to just grab the cheapest body lotion that smells like yummy cucumbers or the glass cleaner that’s on sale without checking the labels. Windex is good right? Everyone uses Windex! Bleach? I grew up using bleach and I’m fine. Yeah, for right now I’m fine. I LOVED the smell of bleach growing up. Why wouldn’t I, it means a clean home right? CRUSHES your respiratory system, agitates your lungs, ears and eyes and you are advised not to inhale it when you are pregnant. Not concerning at all. Not concerned about my long term health at all. *Everything’s fine.*

Here’s a real kicker, if a cleaning product at your supermarket proclaims itself “green,” “natural” or “biodegradable,” that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s nontoxic. In 2010 the environmental consulting firm TerraChoice Group produced a report called “The Sins of Greenwashing.” In it the group found more than 95 percent of so-called green consumer products had committed at least one “greenwashing sin,” like making an environmental claim that may be truthful but unimportant. “CFC-free,” for example, is a common one, since CFCs are banned by law. Greenwashing is at an al time high. Companies are catching on. “Ohh let’s just put a leaf on our product and it will be more appealing and seem natural!”

non

So what do you do?

Throw out the fragrance products. Anything that says fragrance, throw it the f$%^ out. It contains acetone, benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, benzyl alcohol, camphor, ethanol, ethyl acetate, limonene, linalool and methylene chloride – usually in some combination. Many fragranced household products, such as air fresheners, dish soap, even toilet paper contain these. Because of proprietary laws, companies don’t have to disclose what’s in their scents, so you won’t find phthalates or any of the above on the label. If you see the word “fragrance” on a label, there’s a good chance these are present. Here is the issue, unlike the digestive system, the skin has no safeguards against toxins. Absorbed chemicals go straight to organs. Again, horrifying.

Know better, do better. Now that you know, research your products. You guys know I use Young Living for absolutely everything because I trust them. I will continue to use YL on myself and my family and my future children and my pupper and my loved ones. Anything I can do to protect from these harmful toxins, I will do.

Listen I am no saint and am far from perfect but my home is my safe place. A place where I let my hair down, relax, and recoup. You may be thinking, “okay Meg act like you’re all high and mighty, you crush red wine and rip heaters after 4 glasses”.  Touché, I am absolutely not perfect. Nobody is. But I am finding it really hard to ignore the fact that since I have switched and ditched all of my products my moods have been better, my anxiety has decreased. I no longer have to open the windows when I am cleaning my bathroom. I think I sleep better knowing that I have eliminated these dangers in my own home.

So I’ll ask you again. If you can eliminate toxins in your home, why would you not?
